This is a Mathey-Tissot manual-winding watch made in the 1940s.
The case is made of solid 14k gold and is equipped with the hand-wound movement "Cal. 4200".

The case is approximately 32mm in diameter and has a lug width of 17mm.
This dress watch features a thin, round case combined with long, thin lugs.
The curved shape of the lugs when viewed from the side of the case is also distinctive. The dial is matte silver with a small seconds hand at 6 o'clock.
The index is bar-shaped, with minute markers in the form of dots along the outer periphery.
The needle is a thin pencil type, giving it a very clean design.
There is a slight change in the outer edge of the dial due to aging, but it is a uniform and gentle change.

The movement is a hand-wound "Cal.4200".
The base plate has a circular pattern and the bridges are decorated with fine circular graining.
With its simple structure and construction, you can see the original movement of the hand-wound mechanism. On the inside of the case back you can see the "Mathey-Tissot" logo, the case number, and an engraving indicating that it is 14k gold.
The strap is made of Accurate Form horse leather and has a buckle in the same color as the case.

The design of this watch is inspired by Art Deco,
It stands in a different position from post-war modernist design.
While the decoration is kept to a minimum, the aesthetic sense of the time can be seen in the lines and proportions.
It perfectly represents the transitional style seen in watches from around the 1940s.

Mathey-Tissot
Massey Tissot is a watch brand founded in Switzerland in 1886. It is a separate brand from Tissot, and initially focused on the production of pocket watches, but in the first half of the 20th century it became known as a workshop that assembled hand-wound movements in-house. Rather than emphasizing mass production, it produces many models that incorporate simple structures in small-scale production, and also produces a number of dress watches with solid gold cases. It is a distinctive presence when it comes to learning about watchmaking at relatively small Swiss workshops.
